BOOX Note Air6 C Color ePaper Notebook
Hours of reading and note-taking can make another glowing screen a tough sell. The BOOX Note Air6 C offers color ePaper while keeping familiar Android apps within reach. Its pen comes in the box, and an optional keyboard cover lets you switch from scribbling in the margins to typing the whole argument.

If you have to stare at a digital display for hours, an ePaper screen starts to sound like a wise decision. It won’t save you from the fatigue of staring at anything all day, but a paper-like display offers a welcome change from another glowing slab. And if those hours involve reading documents and taking notes, the new BOOX Note Air6 C Color ePaper Notebook should be right up your alley. It succeeds last year’s Note Air5 C, bringing several upgrades along with it.

The familiar 10.3-inch Kaleido 3 screen remains, displaying black-and-white content at 300 ppi and 4,096 colors at 150 ppi. An adjustable warm-and-cool front light handles reading after dark. The colors are subdued, which suits highlighting documents better than attempting to recreate a television showroom.

The upgrades include a 4 nm octa-core processor, Bluetooth 6.0, and Android 16 out of the box. And yes, like all modern-day BOOX devices, it is still an Android device, so there’s no wading into unfamiliar waters for most people. Other hardware details include 6 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, and microSD expansion up to 2 TB.

BOOX Super Refresh technology helps manage ePaper’s refresh behavior and ghosting. And of course, there’s Google Play, which allows you to install third-party apps. Obviously, third-party apps that you are familiar with are going to look different on ePaper.

Like a proper notebook, it supports a pen-style input device, which is included. The magnetic Pen3, as it is called, supports 4,096 pressure levels and tilt sensitivity. Meanwhile, handwriting conversion, split-screen notes, drawing tools, and document annotation give it plenty to do beyond signing things you should have read first.

There is also a feature called Talk Insights, which adds recording, transcription, translation, and summaries. However, do note that it requires internet access and is limited to supported regions and languages. An optional pogo-pin keyboard cover handles typing and provides USB-C charging passthrough, also turning the device into an ePaper laptop of sorts.

All this fits into a device that measures a mere 5.8 mm thick and weighs around 440 g (15.5 ounces), with a 3,700 mAh battery, fingerprint recognition, dual speakers, and a microphone.

The BOOX Note Air6 C is listed for ordering through BOOX’s official store for US$579.99, or US$656.99 if you fancy buying it with the aforementioned keyboard cover.
