It’s been a while since I last talked about Casio Pro Trek, and when I finally wanted to, I hesitated. Why? Well, the new Casio Pro Trek x White Mountaineering PRW-B1000WM-1 just doesn’t look as good to me as the 2024 PRJ-B001WM-1. There. I said it.
Anyhoo, this collaboration uses Casio’s high-end PRW-B1000 platform, which features the full Triple Sensor suite, namely, compass, altimeter/barometer, thermometer. So never mind my opinion about its look. This watch may actually help you survive the brutal wilderness better. With that thought, it’s suddenly looking rather lovely, doesn’t it?
White Mountaineering’s contribution includes a matte-black finish, subtle triangle patterns across the dial and stainless-steel bezel, and white and red accents for visibility. A solid titanium H-link bracelet gets matching black ion plating and a double-lock folding clasp. In short, it is all dressed up for the wilderness.
Tough Solar supplies the power, while Multiband 6 radio reception and Bluetooth handle time adjustment. Through the CASIO WATCHES app, Location Indicator can point toward a saved destination and show its distance. Route Log combines the watch’s altitude readings with your phone’s GPS data. Note the phone’s involvement; the watch hasn’t secretly swallowed a standalone GPS unit.
The outdoor hardware includes anti-reflective sapphire crystal, 100-meter water resistance, operation down to −10°C (14°F), and double LED illumination. The bio-based resin case is also flame-retardant, a useful consideration around campfires. Your marshmallow receives no such protection.
The Casio Pro Trek x White Mountaineering PRW-B1000WM-1 is priced at US$990. I still prefer the older collaboration’s looks, but this one makes a convincing argument for checking the specifications before running my mouth. Anyways, as for stock availability, you may want to check brick-and-mortar stores because on the website it is listed as “NOTIFY ME”. So either it has not arrived in the U.S., or it has temporary out-of-stock.
