we are featuring this bike because of two things: first, it is a bike that you can actually use, and second, it is going to hit the stores soon. lugging your stuff around while cycling around isn’t fun. most likely you will need a messenger bag to do it comfortably or at least a backpack but the Cinco ORTRE bike designed by Alex Liauw can take the load off your back with its integrated load carrier located just above the rear wheel.

what makes this load carrier special is that it is part of the bike’s frame, therefore the rack is strong and stiff and can even carry a loaded airline carry-on case. not that you will ride this baby to the airport but you get the idea. the rack can be used with either a flat-out wooden deck or a wide basket (see images below) as per your requirement. this means you can hit your local convenience store, buy whatever you need and still able to ferry them home even they are in those convenience store plastic bags. in fact, we suggest you bring along your recyclable bag for such task to further your green-effort.
besides, the vehicle looks kind of cute with its small 20-inch wheels wrapped in fatter than usual tires. the ORTRE sports a longer wheel base, which reportedly gives the bike a “feel of a bigger-wheeled bike.” other features include adjustable stem and seat heights, thus allowing taller person to rider comfortably too. currently, only one nine-speed model is being offered but there are plans for a simpler, single-speed model. the Cinco ORTRE bike will make its appearance in the upcoming Taipei Cycle from March 16-19, 2011.
the ORTRE will be available in three colors: beige, grey or matt black, however, there is no word on pricing as yet. the bicycle will comes with custom wooden carrier, custom alloy cargo basket, kickstand and bell as standard. road trip on bicycle, anyone?
