Citroën’s old vans have a charm that newer delivery vehicles rarely manage. We saw that when Fabrizio Caselani and David Obendorfer gave the modern Jumper a wonderfully retro makeover with their Type H 70th Anniversary Van. Now, the Citroën 2 CV Fourgonnette Concept gives us another reason to revisit the brand’s commercial-vehicle past.

Revealed alongside the 2 CV Concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, this one comes from Citroën’s own designers. They describe it as a passion project, which sounds about right. Someone looked at the old workhorse and decided delivery drivers deserved something endearing again.
The original 2 CV Fourgonnette served generations of tradespeople, shopkeepers, and delivery drivers. The new interpretation carries that practical spirit into an electric light commercial vehicle, conceived as the working sibling of the passenger-car concept.
The priorities are familiar: simplicity, accessibility, ingenuity, and ease of use. A vehicle for people who have places to go and things to carry, with enough character to make the working day look a little brighter. I would certainly rather see one of these pull up with my parcel.
Before anyone starts planning a fleet, though, Citroën says it does not preview a production model in the short term. Unlike the passenger 2 CV Concept, which points toward a future showroom model, the Fourgonnette is a design study exploring what the old idea could become.
There are no dimensions, payload figures, motor specifications, battery capacity, range, or pricing in the announcement.
For now, we get the idea: useful vehicles need not be visually forgettable. I hope somebody at Citroën finds a business case for it. The designers have already made the emotional one.
