Searider Searacer Sea Motorcycle

If I told you that there is a motorcycle for the sea, you would probably think “nah, it’s a jet ski, isn’t it?” Well, perhaps. But a jet ski looks nothing like a motorcycle. At least not quite as literal in looks as the Searider. Searider is a new kind of personal watercraft (PWC) that does not have a hull like a typical jet ski, well, at least not all of it.

Where a jet ski has a hull that runs the entire length of the watercraft, the Searider has a wide ski board up front. The ski board allows it to skim on water in a hydrofoil fashion and aids in direction control too. The Searider further stands out with a body that resembles a racing bike or a classic scooter. Needless to say, it is cool as hell. After decades of seeing the familiar jet ski form, it is super refreshing to see a “motorcycle” skipping across the open waters.

The Searider is currently offering two models: Searacer and Seacruiser. The latter takes a page from a Vespa design book which, at a glance, looks like a Vespa is floating on water. Meanwhile, Searacer, as the name implies, took its inspiration from a racing bike, and has a racing profile that beckons you to hug it like, well, a racing bike.

Powering the Seacruiser are dual electric motors rated at 30 HP (33 kW) total and it is paired with a removable universal battery that provides up to 90 minutes of autonomy in between charges. It has a max speed of 55 km/h (30 knots or 34 mph).

For speed demons, the obvious choice would be the Searacer which made a top speed of 77 km/h (42 knots or 48 mph) with its 45 HP dual electric motors. But with great power comes great consumption. The removable universal battery is good for 50 minutes of runtime per charge.

The Searider Seacruiser and Searacer sea motorcycles are available for pre-order now for €22,800 and €27,500 (about US$24,274 and US$29,278), respectively.

Back in March, Searider also revealed a collaborative Searacer model with French automaker Renault which the Renault yellow model pictured with this post. It was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. However, it does not appear to be available for sale.
