This Powered Kayak Has Retractable Stabilizer So You Can Fish Standing

Standing fishing and kayak don’t mix for obvious reason, but when professional competition kayaks maker Fissot introduced the MFK003 Modular Standing Fishing Kayak last year, the game changes. For the first time, you can fish standing without worrying about unwillingly taking a dive. Balance has always been an issue with kayak if you try standing on it, but with the MFK003 Modular Standing Fishing Kayak’s ingenious design, fish standing is what you want to do – thanks to a pair of retractable stabilizers that can be deployed give the boat extra balance. Ultraskiff 360 Proves That Round Boats Can Be As Adept As Regular Boats

If you recall, we made an editorial about a revolutionary, flying saucer-like boat from the 50s two years ago. In the post, we believed that the notion of a round boat was preposterous, simply because it defies hydrodynamic principles, or so we thought. We didn’t believe anyone would ever attempt to make a boat round, but as it turns out, we couldn’t be more wrong; a Florida-based company called Ultra Skiff Inc. actually did. So, yes, Ultra Skiff actually designed and produces circular watercraft, which it calls UltraSkiff 360 Personal Watercraft. Boeing New Autonomous Submarine Can Stay Submerged For Months

Boeing is most notable for commercial and military aircraft, but unbeknownst to some, it also dabbles in watercraft, specifically underwater systems, for over 50 years now. The company’s latest development is a 51-foot Echo Voyager, an unmanned undersea vehicle, that’s design to operate autonomously for months on end. Prior to Echo Voyager, Boeing has two other UUVs, the 32-ft Echo Seeker and the 18-ft Echo Ranger. But in the eyes Boeing, the duo are just “testbeds” as they have an effective mission period of two-three days and both requires a surface ship for launch and recovery. Clearly, those aren’t the ideal feature set in today’s context. Continue reading Boeing New Autonomous Submarine Can Stay Submerged For Months

Pyramid-shaped Yacht Looks Like Star Destroyer Flying Above The Water

One thing we like about boats is, there’s a huge room for design freedom. Unlike aircraft which you have to adhere to certain engineering factors, thus resulting in every aircraft looking pretty much the same. Speaking of design freedom, designer Jonathan Schwinge definitely leverages on that 101 percent when he conceptualized a pyramid-shaped super yacht which he call Schwinge Tetra. So name after the tetrahedron form, Schwinge Tetra uses hydrofoils to rise above the water and together with its radical shape, makes it look like an Imperial Star Destroyer from the front. It really looks like something pull out of the pages of a sci-fi novel. Continue reading Pyramid-shaped Yacht Looks Like Star Destroyer Flying Above The Water

U-Boat Worx Launches World’s First 3-person Submarine Capable of Diving to 5,600 Feet

Getting to a depth of 5,600 feet (1,700 meters) is not unachievable, but it is usually done through crammed submersible with limited field of view or unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV). With that in mind, Dutch private submarine builder, U-Worx teamed up with leading scientists to design a compact and cost-effective submarine that will enable researchers to reach extreme depth safely, comfortably and without inhibiting the vision. Based on the submarine builder’s C-Explorer and packing proven technology, the U-Boat Worx C-Researcher 3, as it is called, is the world’s first 3-person submarine capable of deep dive and it is the first of its kind to achieve such depth with a spherical acrylic pressure hull design.
