Remember when Porsche dipped its toes into the waters with the 850 Fantom Air? Well, it seems they’ve gone full throttle with the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom, a closed-deck electric runabout that’s as stylish as it is powerful. Think of it as a Porsche for the water but with fewer traffic lights and more dolphins.
The Fantom boasts an 8.67-meter (28.4-foot) sleek body with a 2.49-meter (8.2-foot) beam. It comes loaded with Porsche’s all-electric Macan Turbo drivetrain, delivering up to 400 kW of power from a permanently excited synchronous motor. Translation? This thing cruises at a max speed of approximately 90 km/h (49 knots) in Sport Plus mode, leaving most boats in its wake.
The 100-kWh high-voltage battery, also borrowed from the Macan, offers a range of about 100 kilometers (62 miles) for leisurely rides or 45 kilometers (28 miles) at a brisk cruising speed of 41 km/h (22 knots). This latest creation by Frauscher and Porsche supports both DC charging at up to 270 kW and 11 kW AC charging.
Inside, the Fantom channels Porsche’s legendary cabin design. There’s seating for seven, a sunbathing lounge at the rear, and even a cabin under the closed foredeck that screams luxury. The steering wheel and seats flaunt the Porsche crest, while customizable finishes let you personalize everything from upholstery to hull color. The debut model? Oakgreen Metallic Neo paint paired with Truffle Brown padding and orange stitching—basically, a waterborne work of art.
Tech-wise, the Fantom comes equipped with a 12-inch infotainment display featuring an echo sounder, chart plotter, and connectivity options like Bluetooth and WiFi. There’s even a second screen for the co-pilot because who doesn’t love a bit of screen envy? LED ambient and underwater lighting add a cinematic flair, while a folding sunshade ensures your luxury ride stays shady in all the right ways.
Porsche fans, take note: only 25 units of this First Edition model will be built, so exclusivity is the name of the game. The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom starts at €572,934, which converts to roughly US$618,000 at the current exchange rate.
