Underwater scooter is not new but where most underwater scooter makers strive to make this form of underwater transportation as small as possible, ALTIVS chose the opposite route. It is not super huge or anything like that but it is definitely not torpedo-style.
In fact, ALTIVS AXP’s hydrodynamic body gives it a jetski vibe, or a sports bike feel, if you like. Without any context, you’d think it is a miniature jet ski. It may very well be, except that this “jet ski” lets you dive underwater to a depth of 40 meters (131 feet). Pretty cool, eh?
With this little guy, you can glide on the surface of the water, snorkel through coral reefs, or dive deep through underwater caves. In other words, freedom to explore in the open water.
At 91 cm (about 3 feet) long, ALTIVS AXP is definitely not your usual underwater scooter but still compact and lightweight when compared to similar products. It weighs just 23 kilograms (around 50 lbs), allowing it to be hauled around easily by a grown person and also brought onboard a 7-meter (23-foot) boat.
It is powered by a 3.3 kW high-energy density motor that produces a healthy 370N (83 lbs) of thrust and offers a top speed of 13 km/h (8 mph or 7 knots). Speaking of speed, there are 4 speeds to choose from.
The vehicle has a built-in 5.5-inch 1080p high-brightness HD TFT screen that provides you with at-a-glance data like remaining charge, speed, depth, underwater temperature, and more. While controlling the vehicle, buttons, and triggers can be used to control the menu on the screen.
The AXP has an electronic compass built into it which you can take advantage of using the same screen, so you will never lose your bearings. To further improve your underwater experience when deep diving or operating at night, the APX is equipped with a pair of super bright LEDs providing 1200 lumens of illumination.
Finally, it is outfitted with a rechargeable that offers up to 100 minutes of operation in between charges. It can be recharged as quickly as 1.75 hours with a fast charge adapter. The battery is parried with a microprocessor and a BMS that ensure a stable energy output and safeguard the battery during charging and discharging.
