Most people outside of the gaming convention and cosplay community would not know who Jarod Nandin is. If you don’t, Jarod is a World of Warcraft player and a cosplayer who shot to fame with his “guy with no real life” cosplay at Blizzcon 2013.
The “guy with no real life” was actually a depiction of South Park’s Jenkins aka “the griefer”, an obsessive World of Warcraft player. Sadly, Jarod man who have brought smiles to millions has died of COVID-19.
Jarod contracted the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 back in December and subsequently developed breathing complications.
Jarod was an everyday person. You may not be a superstar. Neither was he an immensely huge public personality, but he was once one of the shining stars of Internet.
Beyond that, Jarod and we are everyday people and his death, and the many others, is a grim reminder that no one is save from the virus. Sure, some may emerged unscathed, but not everyone. The question is, can we be absolutely sure that we are “not everyone”?
Even we managed to get away with it, we may be passing it on to someone who won’t make it. So, folks, stay safe and be responsible. Ego can come later when this is finally over.
May his soul Rest In Peace.
