LEGO 30628 The Monster Book of Monsters

Potterheads may be wondering why with so many LEGO Harry Potter sets, there isn’t The Monster Book of Monsters LEGO set. Well, there isn’t – that’s until of late.

While the LEGO 30628 The Monster Book of Monsters exists now and has an associated price tag of US$19.99, it isn’t for sale.

It was available as Barnes & Noble promotion sometime around the week of Black Friday. But the good news is, it is available from LEGO.com, LEGO Stores and apparently some authorized LEGO retail stores (or at least the one that I went did) as a free gift with purchase of US$75 or more.

According to FBTB, it is “US$75 worth of LEGO Harry Potter sets.” However, the particular store I went indicated as with any purchase to the said value.

If you are a huge Potterhead, you will want the LEGO 30628 The Monster Book of Monsters in your collection. Because, it is not just a recreation of the movie’s chomping book in LEGO; it is pretty detailed for a 320-piece set with details like teeth and straps, and a mechanism that opens and closes the book’s mouth when dragged across a flat surface.

There’s not auto mechanism, unfortunately. But I am sure veteran builders will be able to come up with an autonomous solution.

Anywho, if you don’t know, now you know. The promotion for this awesome free gift runs from January 1st through to January 31st, or you know, while supplies last, and at LEGO.com.

Do note that the book isn’t monster in physical size though. It measures 4 inches long by 3 inches wide (12 by 10 cm). I saw the built set and the size makes it look super adorable.
