D&G x SMEG 2018 Small Kitchen Appliances

How much would you drop for small kitchen appliances? 60, maybe 70 bucks? Well, if you are willing to plonk down $600 (yes, six hundred!), these small kitchen appliances from SMEG and Dolce & Gabbana collaboration may tickle your fancy. As with the previous collaboration, including the refrigerators, this latest SMEG x Dolce & Gabbana lineup features eye-catching artworks that are reflective interpretations of Sicilian folklore. The hardware itself is SMEG’s existing line up, but the entire look and feel changed drastically with the addition of the intricate painting.

“Lemons, prickly pears, and bright red cherries are just a selection of Sicilian decorations that are framed in triangular motifs known as crocchi, that decorate these small appliances. Together with crocchi, the appliances are covered in delicate floral motifs and images of the enthralling Mount Etna, surrounded by ornamental friezes, and decorative acanthus leaves. All these themes and decorative symbols are intrinsically tied to Sicily and the important aspects of the aesthetic of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.”

The collection, aptly called Sicily is my Love, includes toasters, mixer, juicer, coffee machine, tea kettle and a blender. First presented at last year’s Salon del Mobile di Milano, Sicily is my Love is now available for pre-order from Neiman Marcus. Last checked, there are only three items posted, namely, tea kettle, juicer and the two-slice toaster. The price is for each item is, of course, 6 pieces of Benjamin Franklin. Keep going for a few more looks.
