Portable storage that touts itself as a media hub isn’t all that new, but this little 2-inch box here, called Fasetto Link, does in a package beyond your wildest imagination. Measuring a mere 2″x 2″x 1″, Fasetto Link comes in three capacities: 256 GB, 512 GB and a whopping 2 TB. But Link isn’t your run-of-the-mill portable hard drive. It is more than just a hard drive slapped with a beautiful enclosure; it packs in a board loaded with a 64-bit octacore processor, 4GB DDR4 RAM, a SSD storage, wireless ac, WiFi 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, a USB Type-C port, and a 1,300 mAh rechargeable battery good for up to 5 hours of streaming, or 2 weeks of standby time.
So, yeah, Fasetto Link (which is powered by Samsung, btw) is essentially a tiny computer on its own, or to be specific, a personal cloud server. Crazy, right? But those are not all Link has to offer; it even as a connector below to allow you to stick it with an optional battery that bumps streaming time to 8 hours, or turning it into a LTE-capable device with a LTE attachment. With Fasetto Link, it serves as your personal cloud for storing your photos, videos, and documents, making them available wirelessly via a companion app, wherever and whenever.
Speaking of wherever, Fasetto Link is totally for mobility and hence, it is built to survive the environment with attributes like UV resistant, weather resistant, MIL-STD drop protection, and waterproof to 45 feet (14 meters, or 1.5ATM). It also has a handy hole for looping a lanyard for easy carry and securing to you bag or whatnot. Fasetto Link can connects up to 30 devices at once and supports streaming to up to 15 devices at the same time. On paper, Fasetto Link really is a dream device for modern gadget users. I mean, what more can you ask for from a 2-inch small device that fulfil the role as a storage and a media center, and allowing it to used wherever you go?
However, while awesome, Fasetto Link isn’t exactly in the affordable realm, well, at least it is not to me. Prices start at $349.99 for the 256 GB model. If you are looking at the 2 TB model, then be prepared to shell out $1,149.99 for one. Ouch.
