Licensing is a b*itch. Why do I say that? Well, licensing often restricts the region a collab product can be sold which is likely what is happening to the new Flydigi x Evangelion Apex 4 Game Controller. It was revealed in China in January and it is now available to buy also in China only.
Flydigi has taken its premium game controller Apex 4 Elite and gave it an EVA Unit 01 makeover. The EVA Unit 01 aesthetic includes the purple and green colorway, as well as various elements like a line image of Unit 01, labels, and whatnot.
In addition, the built-in screen can display Evangelion-themed animation. Yes. This controller has a built-in display which lets you tweak the controller settings.
For those who don’t know, the new Apex 4 Elite has a removable clear or colored cover that magnetically attaches to the controller. Removing the cover, which in this case is translucent purple, lets you access the adjustment key for adjusting the adjustable tension die-cast thumbstick.
Beyond the striking purple and neon green colors, and the many EVA graphics and custom EVA animations, the Flydigi x Evangelion Apex 4 Elite Game Controller is pretty much the same Apex 4 Elite game controller.
It is a multi-platform controller that works with Android and Windows and has multiple connectivity options, including Bluetooth, wireless via the included dongle, and wired. Apparently, it works with Switch too.
Unfortunately, the Flydigi x Evangelion Apex 4 Elite Game Controller [CH] is not available outside of China. It is not listed on the Flydigi store on Amazon and AliExpress. We found it listed on the Chinese e-commerce site, Taobao for 1,109 yuan (which is about US$154).
Oh, there is also the EVA Unit 02 controller but it is not the Apex Elite. It is the Vader 3 Pro and if I can be honest, not as sleek as the Flydigi x Evangelion Apex 4 Elite Game Controller.
