While most gaming PCs continue their obsession with glass and RGB, GIGABYTE is heading in a different direction. Its WOOD Series blends natural materials, clean white finishes, and high-end hardware into a setup that looks more designer furniture than battle station.

For decades, PC builders have been obsessed with glass. Tempered glass side panels. Glass front panels. More glass. Enough glass to make a window manufacturer proud. GIGABYTE, however, showed up at COMPUTEX 2026 and decided maybe what our gaming rigs really need is… wood.

Before you imagine a desktop PC carved from a giant oak tree, let’s get one thing out of the way. These are not wooden computers like the one from ASUS, or the custom kinetic PC case. They are high-end gaming PCs and components featuring wood accents and wood-inspired materials. In other words, your PC will not double as firewood during a camping trip.

The company’s new WOOD-themed builds are part of its AERO lineup and embrace a more natural, Zen-inspired aesthetic. Instead of aggressive RGB explosions and enough sharp angles to qualify as medieval weaponry, the systems blend warm wood textures with clean white finishes.

The centerpiece is the X870E AERO X3D WOOD motherboard, which incorporates wood-inspired design elements into what is usually one of the least exciting things to look at inside a PC case. GIGABYTE also showed off matching components, creating a coordinated build that looks more at home in a modern living room than a LAN party from 2007.

The timing is interesting too. PC hardware companies have spent years trying to make gaming rigs look like spaceships, race cars, and military equipment. The WOOD series goes in the opposite direction, taking inspiration from furniture instead. Somewhere out there, a Scandinavian interior designer is probably nodding in approval.

Of course, beneath the earthy aesthetic lies the same high-performance hardware enthusiasts expect from GIGABYTE. The wood treatment is purely about appearance, not turning your PC into a rustic cabin.

Whether the idea sounds classy or slightly absurd depends on your taste. But after years of black boxes and RGB overload, seeing a motherboard dressed like premium furniture is at least a refreshing change of scenery.

The X870E AERO X3D WOOD is also available in DARK WOOD variety, which, to be honest, looks less wooden at a glance. But that could be just me. Anyhoo, with a motherboard this striking, there’s no escaping a glass case, isn’t it?
