Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

In case you just returned to planet Earth, no, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is NOT the 10th folding display device from the internet search giant. The Pixel Fold line only kicked off in 2023, but Google decided that the numbering should march in lockstep with the Pixel Phone series, starting with the second Pixel Fold. So yes, there’s a new Google Pixel Fold.

And right off the bat, this one touts an all-new gearless hinge that is said to be twice as durable as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s hinge. Oh, and get this: the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is IP68 rated for water and dust resistance, the first foldable device to boast that kind of protection. That’s right, you can finally stop worrying about a sprinkle of rain or the dreaded pocket lint apocalypse.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is crafted from aerospace-grade aluminum, dressed in Moonstone or Jade, and carries a reengineered Super Actua Flex Display that is tougher than before, thanks to ultra-thin glass sandwiched with two layers of anti-impact film. Google claims the hinge and display together can handle over ten years of folding. Inside, you get the largest inner display on any foldable at a full 8 inches, while the outer screen has been stretched to 6.4 inches with slimmer bezels. Both panels peak at 3,000 nits, so good luck hiding from that kind of brightness.

Powering the foldable is Google’s Tensor G5 chip, which means the full suite of Pixel 10 features like Gemini Live, Magic Cue, Daily Hub, and those camera smarts that keep Pixel phones on the photography throne. Speaking of which, the triple rear camera system is led by a new 48MP main shooter, backed by Super Res Zoom up to 20x, Macro Focus, and even a Rear Camera Selfie mode. Folded open, you can preview shots instantly with the new Instant View feature, making quick retakes painless.

Battery life sees a serious boost too, with more than 30 hours on a charge and support for Qi2 wireless charging with Google’s new Pixelsnap accessories. And yes, it still charges to 50 percent in half an hour if you’re old school with the cable.

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is available for pre-order now and will hit shelves October 9. Pricing starts at US$1,799.
