folks with unusually expensive taste buds, rejoice. Groupon UK has teamed up with a Honky Tonk restaurant in Chelsea, London to offer you the chance to savior the World’s Most Expensive Burger, aptly called Glamburger. while Guinness World Records may beg to differ, at £1,100 a pop (US$1,768), the Glamburger is still hard to swallow for most people. in case you are wondering, Glamburger’s “world’s most expensive burger” title is bestowed by Record Setter (an alternative records aggregation site), which kind of makes sense. why? because in Guinness’ book, the world’s most expensive burger, which was produced by Juicys Outlaw Grill in Oregon, USA back in 2011, was expensive because of its sheer size: it tips the scale at an astounding 777 lbs (352.44 kg) and though official did not specifically say, it looks like that monster burger was over three feet in diameter. hardly a burger that you can hold it to your mouth, eh?
proportionally speaking, Glamburger could very well be the priciest burger on Earth to date as its ridiculous price tag is for a regular size burger. but what really goes under the hood, or in this case, between the buns, that make it so inordinately expensive? well, for starter, it has a patty made from 220g of Kobe Wagyu beef (arguably, the most sought after and premium beef on Planet Earth) minced with 60g of New Zealand venison seasoned with smoked Himalayan salt and served with a Canadian lobster preached in Iranian saffron. in addition, it’s got Beluga caviar and a hickory smoked duck egg covered in edible gold leaf to further whet your appetite (as if you need any after dropping very pretty pretty for it). but wait, there are more…
there is also maple syrup coated streaky bacon, gold leaf-coated buns seasoned with a Japanese matcha and cream mayonnaise, while finishing touches are offered by mango and champagne jus and grated white truffle. wow. it sure packs some crazy expensive ingredients in there, making it sound extremely gastronomically pleasing but at over a thousand quid for a burger, it is still seriously out-of-this-world. it took Honky Tonk’s chef Large three weeks to arrive to what is known as Glamburger today. the Glamburger is specially created to mark Groupon’s five millionth food and drink voucher sold and one lucky winner will get the chance to chomp it down for free. yes. free. now are we getting your attention already? keep going for a few more images.
special thanks to Groupon UK for sending us the awesome images. with such lavish burger, we do need some clearer pictures to scrutinize it further, don’t we?
