Ever watched those futuristic vehicles in sci-fi movies? Well, the Helixx Commercial Delivery Van Demonstration Vehicle looks like it has driven right out of one of those sci-fi flicks.
While we’re enamored by this compact EV destined for commercial roles, including delivery, construction, Tuk-Tuk, and even ride-hailing services, the purpose of this demonstration vehicle isn’t to flaunt its sleek lines.
This first demonstrator vehicle from the UK-based global technology company provides insight into the firm’s design principles and the effectiveness of the Helixx manufacturing system.
The UK-based global technology company has recently offered a glimpse of the Helixx commercial delivery van with the demonstration vehicle. The vehicle design prioritizes ease of assembly and optimal interior load space. In addition to the delivery van, Helixx plans to introduce a range of vehicles for various industries.
The standout feature of Helixx’s vehicles is their simplified body system, composed of just five key structural components that easily click and bond together. This innovation significantly reduces manufacturing costs while enhancing vehicle durability. Helixx has embraced a digital-first approach, using in-house 3-D printing to create components and eliminate the need for energy-intensive sheet metal processes.
The end result is a decomplexified body system with reduced mass and fewer individual components compared to traditional vehicles. The commercial delivery van, built on a hybrid aluminum chassis, boasts a central driving position for compatibility in both left- and right-hand-drive markets.
Helixx’s proprietary manufacturing technology stack, powered by Siemens Xcelerator software, aims to simplify the production of commercial electric vehicles and make them more economically viable worldwide.
In the future, following validation and market feedback on the demonstrator vehicle, Helixx plans to commence a Gen Zero production run and expand its presence in the UK and Southeast Asia.
