Honda 0 Alpha SUV Prototype

The Honda 0 Series EVs revealed at last year’s CES now have a new member. Making its debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 (October 29 to November 9) is the Honda 0 α (alpha), a next-generation EV that joins the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV in Honda’s quest to redefine how we think about electric rides.

Honda says the 0 α is designed to “blend beautifully with both urban and natural environments,” which is just a polite way of saying it’ll look good whether it’s outside a city café or halfway up a mountain trail. It’s called the “gateway model” of the 0 Series, which makes it the friendliest of the bunch — the one that invites you in before the future gets too serious.

It follows Honda’s new design philosophy of “Thin, Light, and Wise.” That means it’s sleek without being flat, clever without shouting about it, and light enough that you might forget it’s an SUV. The low-slung body keeps the stance wide and stable while still leaving room for ground clearance, so it doesn’t scrape when you drive over something taller than optimism.

Both ends of the vehicle get what Honda calls “screen areas.” Up front, the headlights, charging lid, and illuminated emblem are fused into one smooth digital panel. Around back, the tail, backup, and signal lamps form a glowing U-shape that wraps around the rear like a futuristic signature.

Production of the Honda 0 α is planned for 2027, with Japan and India getting first dibs before it goes global. For now, it’s still a prototype — but if this is what “thin, light, and wise” looks like, the future of SUVs might just be smarter (and better dressed) than we thought.
