Honor Magic5 and Honor Magic Vs Smartphones

Honor Magic Vs folding phone unveiled last year in China has made its global debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. ‘Global’ here, obviously, does not include the U.S. markets for obvious reasons.

Honor Magic5 Pro

The Honor Magic Vs is offered in a choice of Cyan and Black and will sell for €1,599 (12 GB + 512 GB) (about US$1,697). The exact availability is to be announced. In the meantime, you may learn more about this super sleek folding display device HERE.

Also unveiled at the MWC23 is the follow-up to the Honor Magic4, the Honor Magic5 Series, specifically the Honor Magic5 Pro, featuring a brand new, striking “Star Wheel” aesthetic with Gaudi Curve.

Honor said the Star Wheel Triple Camera system is a tribute to Antoni Gaudí, the Catalan architect responsible for the iconic Sagrada Família in Barcelona. How so? Well, I have no idea. It is kind of a “force” association if you read the press release. Just saying… OK. Maybe it is just me not seeing the association…

Anyhoo, it has a 50 MP camera system comprising a 50 MP wide main, a 50 MP ultra-wide, and a 50 MP periscope telephoto that is armed with OIS and offers up to 3.5x optical zoom AND 100x digital zoom. Over at the front, it gets a 12 MP snapper with a 3D depth camera.

The device has a brilliant 6.81-inch LTPO display with a so-called “Quad-Curved Floating Screen” (read: curved on all sides). The display is bolstered by Novel Display Luminance Enhancement Technology that allows for a peak HDR brightness of 1800 nits, ensuring clear visuals even under bright sunlight.

Still on the display… it has this thing called Dual-Luminance Calibration for typical 120 nits indoor brightness and 800 nits outdoor brightness, to result in “industry-leading display color accuracy.”

And then there’s the Discrete Display Chipset that is said to improve the visual quality of moving images. This chipset allows for an always-on HDR effect to enhance video clarity as well as deliver a higher frame rate with lower power consumption. The device is HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced certified.

Other key spec sheet details include Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, 12 GB RAM, 512 GB storage, IP68 rated, and a 5,000 mAh battery supported by Honor 66 W SuperCharge and support max 50 W (!) wireless SuperCharge.

The Honor Magic5 Pro is offered in Glacier Blue, and Meadow Green, and it will be available in Q2 2023 for €1,199 (roughly US$1,272). Meanwhile, you may dig into more details HERE.
