Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop to Open in Singapore

The Fujiwara Tofu Store used in the making of the live-action Initial D movie may have been demolished for more than a decade now but the spirit of the iconic store of Gunma lives on in Los Angeles and Subang Jaya, Malaysia, as Fujiwara Tofu Cafes and it is coming to Singapore.

The latest Fujiwara Tofu incarnation is not a cafe and obviously, it isn’t a real tofu shop; it is dubbed the Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop Singapore and described as Singapore’s first Initial D concept bistro. However, do not expect a Japanese-style semi-detached or terrace shop. That is a luxury Singapore does not have.

Singapore’s variety appears to be a standalone building (which is pretty rare in Singapore, btw). As a boon, it’d have some parking spaces next to the store. While not looking like anime/manga or movie, the Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop Singapore does have a similar awning/sign with the Fujiwara Tofu Shop name on it, well, with a slight difference.

Strangely, it has an additional word “fried” before the word “shop”. So, I am guessing it will sell fried tofu as part of the menu? Anyhoo, it is not clear what the concept shop will offer. Sure hope there will be the Initial D arcade machines there!

The Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop Singapore is set to open for business in late February. But even before that, petrol heads in Singapore have already flocked there for photo opportunities. It is a shame that among the many photos we have seen posted on Instagram, none of them has the AE86 Trueno Sprinter in it.

The store, in case anyone’s interested, is located at 169 Sims Ave #01-02. You may find more photos in a post by MSNews.
