Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather 50th Anniversary Watch

Not sure if we told you about this. Jacob & Co., the luxury watchmaker behind the Gotham City watch and other awesome timepieces, had a timepiece that pays tribute to one the most iconic film in modern cinematic history, The Godfather. I am a huge fan and so how did I miss that is a mystery.

Anyways, if you missed that, that is fine too because there is now the Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather 50th Anniversary Watch. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of this Francis Ford Coppola’s cinematic masterpiece, Jacob & Co. has taken the Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather Watch and given it the additional presence of the movie, including an image of Marlon Brando who played the titular role of The Godfather, Vito Corleone, prominently featured at 10 o’clock on the “grand piano”.

The piano is part of the music box, btw, with actual moving keys when the music plays. Now, that is super cool. Directly diagonally across it, at the 4 o’clock position, is imprinted with “The Godfather 50 Years”. Where the previous version had a figure of The Godfather in the center of the dial, it now has the rose often seen worn by the Don.

While the movement is the same triple-axis flying tourbillon and the dial feature the same double-cylinder music box that plays the 120 notes of the movie’s iconic theme song, the musical drums are printed with 13 of the most memorable quote from the movies, including “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse,” “Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes,” and more.

The Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather 50th Anniversary Watch is a commemorative timepiece featuring a pioneering laser engraving on the 49mm case band. The movie’s key moments can be found engraved on the side of the watch. All told 13 scenes were selected and approved by Paramount Pictures, and then transferred to the watch’s case band in a pioneering photorealistic laser engraving by DM Surfaces. Completing the design is an 18K gold winding crank in the shape of a violin in place of the traditional crown.

Absolutely a stunning timepiece for any fans of The Godfather. Well, that is if you have US$550,000 to drop. Ouch. But that is to be expected. The good news is, for that astronomical sum you are getting the entire package which also includes an all-new version of The Godfather Pen, featuring The Godfather 50 Years branding and a rose rendered in red and green on the pen cap, plus a special edition crystal decanter, featuring a high-resolution print of Marlon Brando and The Godfather 50 years branding, contained in a special wood case lined with red velvet.
