JL Audio Primacy T6 Active 3-Way Loudspeaker
Garmin may be better known for GPS and sports watches, but the JL Audio Primacy T6 shows it is taking high-end home audio seriously too.

Garmin is best known for its marine audio systems, avionics, GPS equipment, and smart sports watches. But what some do not know is that it has also been in the high-end audio business since acquiring JL Audio in 2023.

Now, that move is starting to show its intent with the JL Audio Primacy T6 Active 3-Way Loudspeaker with DSP—a full-blown home audio system built with the kind of engineering you would expect from a brand that takes sound seriously.

The Primacy T6 is an active loudspeaker, which means the amplification is built in. Each speaker houses its own amplification and DSP, removing the need for external amps and guesswork. Everything—from signal processing to crossover management—is handled internally, with high-resolution 32-bit / 192 kHz processing.

Driver-wise, this is a proper 3-way setup. Each tower features a 1-inch tweeter, a 5.5-inch (14 cm / 5.5 in.) midrange driver, and four 5.5-inch (14 cm / 5.5 in.) woofers. That is six drivers per speaker, arranged to deliver full-range performance without relying on external subwoofers.

The enclosure is built from aluminum alloy, not just for looks, but to control resonance and maintain structural rigidity. At this level, even minor vibrations matter, so the cabinet itself plays a role in how the system performs.

Then there is the room. Instead of expecting you to figure out placement and acoustics, JL Audio includes P.A.R.O. (Primacy Automatic Room Optimization), which analyzes your space and adjusts the system accordingly. It is essentially the system tuning itself to your room, rather than the other way around.

The Primacy system is not just about the speakers, either. It is part of a complete setup that includes the CS Stereo Centerpiece, which acts as the streamer, control hub, and processing unit. It supports modern streaming platforms and integrates everything into a single ecosystem.

As for size, these are not small speakers. Each tower stands at a substantial scale, designed to anchor a room both visually and acoustically (exact dimensions are not specified in the official material, but safe to say this is not bookshelf territory).

And yes, this is firmly in high-end territory. The JL Audio Primacy T6 system starts at around US$90,000 a pair. You can buy it online, though. You will need to find a dealer via Garmin.com.
