What if your car is not just your ride, but your pet’s favorite place too? That is the idea behind CAMBY, a lifestyle automobile line by Meiyo Electric Co., Ltd., which is trying to turn road trips into something both you and your furry co-pilot can actually enjoy.
CAMBY is not pitching just one vehicle. It is presenting a whole mindset: automobiles built around the idea of traveling, living, and even sleeping, not just for humans, but also their pets. And at FIELDSTYLE TOKYO (May 9–10, 2026), it is showing three very different ways to do exactly that.
First up is GRASSHOPPER, so named because it drew inspiration from a, well, grasshopper. It is a camper truck built on a Daihatsu extended cab truck that oozes a post-apocalyptic vibe—thanks to the rugged tires, rugged bull bar, and rugged roof rack. The body is hand-finished by craftsmen, which means no two are quite the same. It is bold, a little weird, and very much the kind of truck you do not buy quietly. You buy it because you want people to ask questions—you know people are going to want to know why it has a sloping camper shell.
Speaking of the camper shell, it has an FRP canopy that can be extended, though not in the way you are accustomed to. It pops up like a lid for more headroom and has stowable netting all around. Not a lot is known about this still elusive camper truck, but based on the official images, we can see that it has a twin-burner gas stove, a sink with a faucet, and multiple storage compartments, including a drawer-like unit that appears to be as long as the truck bed—all accessible from the outside. However, what does on in that canopy is unclear, except that it has a flat, cushioned space for rest.
Then there is the more grounded—but no less interesting—Stealth Camper N, based on the Nissan Serena. This one is all about practicality. Inside, it packs a full, flat bed that can comfortably fit adults, making overnight stays actually viable instead of a back-breaking experience. It also comes with a microwave oven, a parking air conditioner for those warm nights, a sub-battery system for extended power, and a charging system that keeps things topped up while you drive. Even more amazing is that it still has the second-row seat when you need to hit the road with a few other folks.
Rounding things out is Sonova, built on the Nissan NV200 and styled with a Southern California vibe. Think relaxed, casual, and just a little playful. It looks just as at home parked by the beach as it does in the city. And while the display model focuses on design, CAMBY hints at something more interesting: combining this laid-back styling with proper camper functionality. In other words, good looks and real usability in one package.
What ties all three together is the same idea: automobiles are not just for getting from A to B. They can be your basecamp, your shelter, and, in this case, a shared space with your pets. CAMBY builds around that idea, creating vehicles that let you travel, rest, and live on the road with your animals in a way that feels intentional, not an afterthought.
And just to drive the point home, the booth will also feature real photos from users—dogs, cats, road trips, and all the little moments in between. So no, these are not just any old automobiles.
