King Charles Coronation Emblem by Jony Ive

Not sure if you guys have heard but there is a King Charles’ Coronation Emblem. Yup. It has an emblem just for the coronation. I don’t believe there was an emblem for the coronation of Elizabeth II on June 02, 1953. So I guess it is a huge deal since it is the first coronation in 70 years.

King Charles Coronation Emblem by Jony Ive

Anyhoo, so here it is. The emblem for the biggest event in the U.K. in 2023 and it is penned by the former Chief Design Officer of Apple Inc. Jony Ive with his creative collective LoveFrom.

I am not a fan of the Royal family but I do not hate them either. If anything, I sympathize with them for the hoo-ha caused by one of the princes. But let us not get all gossipy and political here. We are here for the emblem which is an absolute beauty, IMHO. Here are the official words on the emblem straight from Buckingham Palace:

“The emblem pays tribute to The King’s love of the natural world, unifying the flora of the four nations of the United Kingdom; the rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the daffodil of Wales and the shamrock of Northern Ireland. Together, the flowers create the shape of St Edward’s Crown”

Red, white, and blue are the colors of the union flag, btw. The emblem will be used through the historic celebrations in May, as well as on all official merchandise (but of course) commemorating the Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort.

His Majesty The King will be crowned during the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 06, 2023 (UK Time).

The Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort will be marked with events across the country and a concert at Windsor Castle.
