are the current tablet offerings too small for you? how about scoring yourself one massive 21.5″ tablet? yea, you heard that right and we are not talking about a touchscreen PC. we are referring to the upcoming FT03 21.5-inch Tablet (aka Smart Display FT03) from Japanese firm, Kouziro. easily mistaken for an LCD monitor, this hugely oversized tablet runs on Android 4.0 and is equipped with 1GHz dual-core processor (TI OMAP 4428) from Texas Instruments. some of specifications expected include 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a full HD 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, integrated microphone, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 1.2-megapixel front camera. for obvious reason, there’s no rear facing camera to talk about. because of its immense size it has managed to tuck in two full size USB 2.0 ports and a regular Ethernet port along side with a microUSB port, microSD card slot, microHDMI input, and an audio headphone jack. man, this is more like a TV then a tablet, not just because of its mega size (512.8 mm x 24.8 mm x 353 mm) but it weighs a hefty 5 kg or 11 pounds. however, Kouziro has no illusion about its portability as it has no battery and draws its power via an AC adapter, plus a built-in kickstand also hints that you should not be lugging this around – if the weight and size haven’t already point you to this fact. originally slated to be available end of this month with a price tag of ¥34,800 (about US$440), the Kouziro FT03 Tablet launch date is now pushed to mid-September due to some “OS accreditation and display quality issue.”
