when we think about emergency readiness, we hardly give much thought to first aid kit. sure, you probably have the basics such as bandage kit and/or bandaids stocked but we bet you did miss out the tools to carry out the patching up job when the need arises. well, the Leatherman Raptor here, though doesn’t sounds like it, is the multi-tool that will fill that void. it is a multi-tool alright but it is one that’s designed with uniformed medics in mind and packs in a 420HC stainless steel medical shears, strap cutter, carbide glass breaker, ring cutter, a 5cm (2″) rule, and an oxygen tank wrench. the strap cutter here deserves a special mention: it can be easily deployed even when the Raptor is in closed position which will comes in handy in the event of an emergency where time is of the essence. the Leatherman Raptor can be conveniently carried with a replaceable pocket clip, or for the style-conscious rescuers, with the included MOLLE compatible injection-molded polymer holster that can stow the tool regardless of whether it is open or closed. we have to admit that despite the tools being designed for a grimmer purpose, we kind of like it. no. we’re not a morbid bunch but the Leatherman Raptor is something that’s good to have even if you aren’t a rescue worker or uniformed medic. hitting the stores in May 2013 with a yet to be announced price tag. in the meantime, you can check out a few more larger views below.
