From cake with poppable pimples to shag rugs-lookalike cake to non-edible pot pie with anthropomorphic faces, the world is certainly not lacking of bizarre and sometimes disturbing food, fake or real. Well, it looks like it is not going to stop. It seems like more are being uncovered every now and then, and here’s another by Holland-based Singapore artist by the name Lim Qi Xuan. Lim, also known by the pseudonym Quimmy Shimmy, is the creator of this rather disturbing clay macarons that bear incredibly realistic faces of babies.
While Lim’s macarons are obviously non-edible, they are no less realistic as macarons and so are the baby faces – a combination which makes it quite unsettling just by looking at them. However so, I just can’t stop looking at it. Good lord. Am I morbid or what? But seriously, I can’t be the only one, right? Right? Anywho, if you think these Clay Macarons with Realistic Faces of Babies are disconcerting, well, my friends, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Lim has even more creepy works, including a raw meat ‘cake’ (wait, is that human flesh!???) topped with breasts with nipples, a slice of pie packed with miniature, eerily realistic human hearts, and canned baby faces and baby arms – just to pick out a few. Lets just say that Lim Qi Xuan’s kind of art is not for the squeamish. If you can’t handle poop art, or squirms at the sight bouncing CGI body parts, then may I suggest that you don’t venture further beyond this post. If you aren’t and/or your curiosity is on overdrive, then by all means, hit up her Instagram page and her website for even more. Proceed with caution for you have been warned.
