LEGO has shown us that what we can build is limited only by our imagination. But why stop there? Sometimes, it’s more fun to build someone else’s imagination. You know, the kind filled with UFOs, extraterrestrials, and government conspiracies—just like in the iconic ’90s sci-fi series, The X-Files.
So, yes, The X-Files has arrived in LEGO. And you know what? It opens up the same flood of nostalgia when the 90s sitcoms like Friends and Seinfeld were recreated as LEGO sets.
Called LEGO Ideas The X-Files (21369), this 1,478-piece display set inspired by the iconic sci-fi series is based on a design by Brisbane-based fan designer Brent Waller, a.k.a. wetwired on LEGO Ideas. Waller, who is also the LEGO extraordinaire behind the LEGO Ideas Seinfeld set, created the model for the LEGO Ideas ’90s Nostalgia Challenge, where it came out on top.
This particular set cleverly integrates two scenes into a single model. It recreates Fox Mulder’s office, as well as the iconic forest UFO encounter, and is packed with Easter eggs and references from the show.
Inside Mulder’s office, which sits beneath the forest scene, you’ll find the “I Want to Believe” poster, “The Truth Is Out There” nameplate, X-Files case files, pencils stuck in the ceiling, and even a nod to Mulder’s sunflower seed habit. Meanwhile, the forest diorama features towering trees and dense undergrowth, with a UFO mounted on a transparent support to simulate it hovering above the woodland.
The best part is that the forest scene and Mulder’s office can be displayed together or separately. I like the stacked design because it allows fans with limited display space to showcase both scenes at once, while also giving collectors with more real estate the flexibility to display them separately.
This set is a minifigure galore. It includes a whopping eight minifigures: Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, Flukeman, and, of course, the Grey Alien.
When completed, the model measures 23 cm (9 in.) wide, 23 cm (9 in.) deep, and 30 cm (12 in.) tall.
Designed for adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs), the LEGO Ideas The X-Files (21369) is set to arrive on August 4, 2026, for US$199.99.
