LEGO Monkie Kid Warrior Mech has just gotten an upgrade. LEGO has revealed a new Monkey King Mech, the LEGO Monkie Kid Monkey King Ultra Mech (80045). As the name suggests, it is a beefier take of the original and with a face that I can’t help but think looks like Bayverse’s Ironhide.
The new LEGO Monkie Kid Monkey King Ultra Mech (80045) boasts a new armor that is responsible for its Hulkbuster-like beefiness, detachable rocket boosters, and the mech’s Golden Sight power is now more obvious – thanks to a light brick. In addition, the weapons and accessories can be used to create a jet for air patrol.
The set includes six minifigures: Monkey King, a powered-up version of Monkie Kid, Yellow Tusk Elephant, Azure Lion, The Golden-Winged Eagle, and the original version of Mr. Tang.
LEGO Monkie Kid Monkey King Ultra Mech packs a cool 1,705 pieces and when completed, it measures over 15 in. (39 cm) tall and 10 in. (26 cm) wide with arms at its sides. It is similarly sized to the 80012 but with more bulk.
For the uninitiated, the LEGO Monkie Kid line is inspired by the classic Journey to the West novel written by Ming Dynasty-era novelist and poet Wu Cheng’en.
