Lola Cars Joins Formula E with Yamaha

Anyone who follows the history of motorsports, including Formula races, would be familiar with the brand Lola Cars. Well, if you don’t, you soon will because Lola Cars is returning to top-tier motorsports, the Formula E. Lola has announced that it is entering the all-electric ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with Yamaha as its technical partner.

Lola Cars Joins Formula E with Yamaha

Yamaha Motor is responsible for the development and supply of high-performance electric powertrains for the Lola Cars’ Formula E race cars. Lola Cars will enter the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship from Season 11.

With a legacy of over 500 championship wins, Lola Cars will collaborate with Yamaha to develop a powertrain for Formula E, embracing the all-electric race series’ shift to the GEN3 Evo platform in the 2024/25 season.

This partnership marks a significant step in both companies’ commitment to zero-emission transportation and technological innovation, focusing on electrification, hydrogen, and sustainable fuels and materials.

The initiative will feature a highly efficient 350 kW electric powertrain, signaling Lola Cars’ ambitious return to the forefront of sustainable engineering and motorsport, operating from their new global headquarters in Silverstone, UK. This collaboration also continues Lola Cars’ historical ties with Japanese motorsport, further enriching its impressive legacy in racing.
