It looks like Channel is not alone in turning surfboard into a designer thing. Louis Vuitton is selling a surfboard too. Called Louis Vuitton Surf On The Beach Board, this striking, limited edition blue-to-orange gradient surfboard is features multimedia artist Alex Israel’s signature iridescent colors drawn from an LA sunset.
The beautiful hand-painted Californian sunsets design is further adorned with a frosted monogram overlay and before rounding up with custom-made, translucent blue fins. The surfboard itself features a fiberglass construction with a wooden spine.
The limited edition Louis Vuitton Surf On The Beach Board measures 224 x 56 x 7 cm (88.2 x 22 x 2.8 inches), weighs in at 5.5 kilograms (12.1 lbs), and it is a collaborative piece by the Parisian designer label and Alex Israel – complete with the man’s signature on the back of the board.
The Louis Vuitton Surf On The Beach Board is not available in stateside (though the U.S. does have the Skimboard which costs US$2,070). It is available in Europe and only in stores, for a grand price of 10.000 euros (which is about US$12,110 based on current going rate).
