Mattel Brick Shop x Hot Wheels Collector

You heard right—Mattel is about to give LEGO and other brick-build brands a serious run for their money. The first wave of products has just been announced, and it’s going to make model car collectors and gearheads very happy.

Kicking off the Mattel Brick Shop’s debut collection is the Hot Wheels Collector Builds, featuring seven collectible building sets inspired by some of the most iconic cars of our time. But that’s not even the coolest part of this maiden lineup. Each set not only features accurate details and proportions, along with customization options—it also, wait for it… Includes real metal parts. That’s right. Metal components in a brick-built set. How cool is that?

If that’s still not enough, each Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels Collector Build also comes with a matching 1:64 scale die-cast car to complete your collection. And yes, that die-cast is exclusive to the set.

As for the sets themselves, they’re being offered across three series: the Hot Wheels Speed Series, Hot Wheels Elite Series, and Hot Wheels Premium Series.

It is also worth-mentioning that each set packs in little bonuses that make the builds more than just shelf candy. We’re talking swappable parts, official licensed decals, and unique customization options depending on the model. Even the packaging feels tuned for collectors. Keep going for a quick rundown of the details of each set.

Hot Wheels Speed Series – Built for Thrill Seekers (US$19.99, Ages 10+)

This is the entry-level tier, but don’t let the price fool you. These sets are loaded with character and still include metal details and decals.

  • Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar – A sleek, aerodynamic racer inspired by endurance motorsports. Features include opening doors, bold graphics, and a 1:64 metal version to match.
  • Maserati MC20 – It’s got butterfly doors, a visible engine, and enough Italian flair to justify aggressively sipping espresso while building it. Comes with interchangeable wheel covers and racing decals.
  • Custom ’68 Camaro – A muscle car brickified. Bold stripes, metallic exhaust, wide stance—it practically growls off the shelf. Swap out wheel covers and go full Hot Wheels custom.

Hot Wheels Elite Series – Next-Level Authenticity (US$49.99, Ages 10+)

This tier ups the ante with more parts, more detail, and more chances to flex your build chops.

  • Corvette Grand Sport – With its low-slung profile and metallic exhaust, this one’s a love letter to American track legends. Bonus parts let you tweak its look to your liking.
  • ’90 Acura NSX – Japan’s legendary mid-engine supercar makes the leap to bricks with functional steering, pop-up headlights, and the option to build it as either an Acura or a Honda. JDM fans, this one’s your cue.
  • Custom ’62 Chevy Pickup – A beach-ready brick truck complete with an exposed engine, adjustable suspension, and a tiny surfboard. You get extra parts to personalize it too.

Hot Wheels Premium Series – Top Shelf Builds (US$119.99, Ages 17+)

This one’s for the serious collectors—the folks who like their brick builds with a bit of gravitas (and a lot of metal).

  • Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing – The legendary classic is reimagined at 1:12 scale (about 38 cm or 15 inches long) and comes with opening doors, luxe interior detailing, and a metal Mercedes-Benz crest. You also get a 1:64 metal die-cast version to park next to it on your shelf. If you’ve ever wanted to build a museum-worthy icon in brick form, this is it.

If anyone’s interested the aforementioned sets are available for pre-order as we speak. Oh wait. That’s not good. It looks like some of the sets (’90 Acura NSX, Corvette Grand Sport, Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar, and Maserati MC20) have already sold out. We are not all super late on this, btw. Officlal words were release yesterday, May 01.
