New Meta Smart Glasses
Meta’s latest smart glasses range from ordinary-looking Ray-Bans that talk to you to display-equipped frames that navigate using visible landmarks and place a hologram of you on video calls. The eyewear is getting smarter; looking normal remains part of the assignment.

Meta’s smart-glasses catalog is beginning to resemble the sunglasses wall at an optician: look away for a moment and another frame appears. Following the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, the company has introduced its first audio-focused Ray-Bans, a third generation of its camera-equipped glasses, several new frame styles, and fresh features for Meta Ray-Ban Display.

The new Ray-Ban Meta Audio emphasizes music, podcasts, calls, and hands-free conversations with Meta AI. Weighing just 43 g, they are Meta’s lightest and slimmest AI glasses yet, with adjustable temple tips, interchangeable nose pads, and hinges designed to survive enthusiastic handling.

Battery life reaches 12 hours, while the charging case adds another 48 hours. There are 23 color and lens combinations spread across the retro Clubmaster and rectangular Burbank styles, with prescription lenses supported. Pre-orders are open now from US$349, with shipping beginning October 13.

For those who still want a camera attached to their face, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 brings a slimmer design, adjustable temple tips, a customizable Meta AI button, and up to nine hours of battery life. Its new six-microphone array promises to cut more than 90% of background noise, while a 12 MP camera records 3K Ultra HD video. Later this year, it will also capture videos with Dolby Atmos spatial sound.

Muse, Meta’s new personal AI agent, will eventually join the glasses, helping users manage tasks, schedules, habits, and longer-term goals without reaching for a phone.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display is gaining cycling and public-transit directions, plus more natural walking instructions based on visible landmarks. Instead of telling you to turn at an easily missed street sign, the glasses may direct you past the yellow house. Finally, navigation instructions for people who navigate like people.

Hologram calling is also coming to WhatsApp in Early Access. After a short facial capture, the glasses create a photorealistic digital version of you, with expressions inferred from your voice. Your mother can now watch a virtual you cook while the real you remains safely behind the camera.

Other additions include an Explore app for glasses-specific experiences, Dolby Atmos video recording, richer calendar controls, mirrored phone notifications, and Threads Community Feeds. Meta Ray-Ban Display is also expanding beyond the U.S. to Canada, the UK, France, Italy, and Germany.
