Athletes who have been jet-setting around to compete now have a chance to travel like a true sportsperson because the Nike Suitcase is officially a thing. Revealed last December, the Nike Suitcase Collection has recently launched, marking the sporting brand’s foray into the luggage space.
The collection includes three different sizes of hard-shell luggage designed to meet the travel needs of athletes. Nike says the suitcases’ design draws heavily from the iconic Nike Air Force 1 shoe, and if I am being honest, it is not immediately obvious. The front features a simple Nike Swoosh, which feels a little rudimentary. But spin it around, and you will find the back imprinted with the pattern found on the sole of an AF1.
That is not all. To bring the Air Force 1 theme full circle, the phrase “Thank you for flying Nike Air” is printed inside the bag. Still not enough. You can further personalize it with the included sticker pack specially created for these suitcases.
The lineup includes the Nike Carry-On Luggage, Nike Medium Checked Luggage, and Nike Large Checked Luggage. The carry-on is a 22-inch hardshell suitcase offering 52 liters of space. Meanwhile, the medium and large versions are 26-inch and 29-inch hardshell suitcases offering 96 liters and 143 liters of space, respectively.
All suitcases feature TSA-approved locks, 360-degree spinner wheels, padded handles for comfort, adjustable internal dividers, and a removable, washable liner. Yes, washable, which makes sense when you are packing sweaty sneakers and workout clothes. Still, try to wash them first. If not, you risk knocking yourself out or anyone brave enough to open it.
The bags are constructed with a rugged yet lightweight matte polycarbonate shell made with recycled components and include an expandable panel. The Nike Suitcase Collection tackles athletes’ unique packing challenges head-on, with dedicated spots for sneakers and compartments to separate sweaty clothes from clean gear.
The Nike Suitcase Collection launches at US$260 for the carry-on, US$310 for the medium checked luggage, and US$360 for the large checked luggage. Unfortunately, at the time of this post, the carry-on and medium checked luggage appear to be sold out.
