Nissan Frontier TARMAC Concept Pickup Truck

This one is dedicated to Nissan Frontier owners whose Frontier identifies as a sports truck (or street truck). What you see here is the Nissan Frontier TARMAC Concept. It can haul stuff like any other pickup—if you bear to let the pristine bed scratch by anything—but on steroids. It is a truck that will remain in your fantasy because you know (1) it is a concept, and (2), that’s not what you bought a pickup truck for.

Built-in collaboration with Nissan Motorsports (NISMO), Forsberg Racing, and Nissan Design America, the Frontier TARMAC flexes a supercharged 3.8-liter V6 pushing a hefty 440 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Add in a carbon fiber NISMO air intake, a performance exhaust, and custom NISMO brakes with extra stopping power, and you’ve got a street truck that’s as ready for the track as it is allergic to potholes. Want to drift it? There’s a custom handbrake just for that.

This concept sits impossibly low, thanks to a prototype NISMO coil-over suspension up front, paired with a rear flip kit and C-notch setup. The result? A “slammed” stance that Forsberg himself describes as “very low.” Add custom 20-inch NISMO wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan tires, and you’ll see why this Frontier isn’t exactly designed for off-roading.

And, of course, there’s the look: Afterburn Orange paint (freshly available on the 2025 Frontier), ultra-wide carbon fiber fender flares, and enough carbon fiber accents to make even the most jaded car enthusiast swoon. Inside, you’ll find Recaro seats, a carbon fiber steering wheel, and a handbrake designed to make every track session an exercise in style and control.

While the Nissan Frontier TARMAC remains a concept, it’s a nod to the nostalgia of muscle trucks. Sure, it’ll cost you way more than your average work truck—but as they say, fun and practicality can share a bed, right? Nissan is showcasing this race car with a bed at the ongoing SEMA, along with Project Trailgater (Trail—not tail), a Frontier setup for tailgating, a Kicks Beach Patrol concept, a Kicks Urban Shadow concept, and a Nissan Z Legend accessory package concept.
