It has become something of an industry standard for tablet makers to offer their devices in multiple sizes. Oppo already covered the middle ground with the Pad 5 last year. This April, it filled out the lineup with the compact Pad Mini and a larger, more powerful Pro model. Folks, meet the Oppo Pad 5 Pro, a 13.2-inch tablet with flagship hardware and enough screen to occupy a respectable portion of your desk.
The centerpiece is a sizable 13.2-inch LCD with a 3,392 x 2,400-pixel resolution, a productivity-friendly 7:5 aspect ratio, and an adaptive refresh rate that cycles between 30, 48, 50, 60, 90, 120, and 144 Hz. It also supports 10-bit color and the DCI-P3 color gamut. No, it is not OLED, despite what some comparisons might suggest, but it is still a large, sharp, and very speedy canvas.
Driving all those pixels is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, an eight-core processor clocked at up to 4.608 GHz, paired with Adreno 840 graphics. Depending on the configuration, it comes with 8, 12, or 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory and either 256 or 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Oppo has also fitted it with its Tiangong cooling system to keep performance under control during heavier workloads and gaming. The company claims it can smoothly preview multi-track 4K footage at 60 fps in CapCut Pro, which is considerably more ambitious than watching cat videos while pretending to answer emails.
Keeping the giant slab awake is an equally giant 13,380 mAh battery. It supports 67 W SuperVOOC wired charging and can reportedly be fully replenished in approximately 74 minutes. That is an impressive turnaround for a battery large enough to make some laptops feel inadequate.
Despite its dimensions, the Pad 5 Pro is only 5.9 mm (0.23 in) thick. It measures 289.7 x 208.8 mm (11.41 x 8.22 in) and weighs approximately 672 g (1.48 lbs). In other words, it is thin, though you will definitely notice it inside your bag—especially after spending time with the featherweight Pad Mini.
Camera duties are handled by a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front-facing camera. Nobody should buy a 13.2-inch tablet primarily for photography unless intimidating nearby tourists is part of the plan, but the cameras should cover document scanning and video calls.
ColorOS 16 supplies PC-class WPS Office, CapCut Pro, Panoramic Free Window multitasking, file management, AI-assisted note-taking and translation, and cross-device collaboration. It also supports sharing a computer’s keyboard and mouse, along with Mac-like touchpad gestures. Meanwhile, Wi-Fi 7 handles wireless connectivity.
The OPPO Pad 5 Pro launched in China in Dawn Gold, Mocha Brown, and Monet Purple. Prices start at 4,299 yuan [CH] (~US$630). Official international availability remains unclear for now.
