Evangelion x Garmin GPS Smartwatches

Garmin Instinct Evangelion Edition probably won’t be helpful when piloting an EVA unit, but when you are not doing so, it will be helpful in helping you keep tab of your activities and check on notifications without pulling out your smartphone (if it has not been smashed during the many conflicts with the Angels).

What’s interesting about this EVA-themed GPS smartwatches is, each watch is based on a different EVA-theme. There’s a model that is based on EVA Unit-01 Test Type, a model that is based on Asuka’s EVA Unit-02 Production Model, and finally, a model that is based on the NERV operation staff’s uniform.

The last one is really an odd choice. Sorry for fans of Rei and Unit-00 Prototype because, there ain’t one inspired by her or her machine.

Each watch further features a glass with NERV Emergency hexagonal pattern on the peripheral, withe “NERV ONLY” engraved on the NERV model, “01” on the first machine model, and “02” on the second unit model.

The packaging also received some Evangelion love too, by the way of red and pearl hue, and line graphic of the NERV VTOL aircraft for the NERV model, Unit-01 head on the first unit model and Unit-02 head on the second unit model.

The GPS is individually numbered and serialized, engraved in NERV fashion on the side of the watch.

Evangelion x Garmin GPS Smartwatches are limited to 1,000 units for each color and only available in Japan. Pre-order has already kicked off with each watch commanding 39,800 yen (tax include, about US$375).

Official availability is set on August 31, 2020.
