While some smartphone goes all the way out to express their rugged nature and some disguises the rugged quality perfectly, the Oukitel WP30 Pro Rugged Smartphone strikes a balance between the two. The new Oukitel WP30 Pro kinda looks rugged but still looks like any sleek, modern-day smartphone.

It is encased in a metal frame that has a rugged design, a carbon fiber textured back cover, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the device’s 120 Hz 6.78” FHD+ display. It is not clear what type of display it uses. But we do know that Oukitel has bumped up the thickness of the screen to 1.1 mm to stand up to the daily rigors and enhance its durability.

In addition, it is IP68 and IP69K rated and built to stand up to harsh environments and handling to thanks the MIL-STD-810H certification. Oh, did we mention that this device has a dual screen? In addition to the front display, has a second 1.8” OLED display around the back, flanked by its cameras.

This tiny screen is an AMOLED item that consumes little power while offering clarity for it to serve as a viewfinder for the rear camera when taking selfies, browsing photo albums, music controls, and quick checks of time, battery, step count, and various notifications. The software offers up to 20 themes to be displayed on the second screen.

Under the hood, it benefits from TSMC 6 nm process MediaTek Dimensity 8050 that offers 5G connectivity, octacore processor with clock speed up Oukitel WP30 Pro Rugged Smartphone to 3.0 GHz, and Arm Mali-G77 GPU, and 12 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The phone is pretty chunky as expected of a rugged device but part of the chunk is perhaps the result of a massive 11,000 mAh battery (!) with 120 W Fast Charge that could take it from 0-50% in just 15 minutes. The battery offers up to 1,300 hours of standby time, lets you yak away for up to 60 hours, offers 40 hours of music playback, 13.5 hours of video playback, or up to 10 hours of gaming.

Imaging, this little big guy has a 108 MP 1/1.33” Samsung sensor camera with AI mode and 4K videoing capability, a 20 NP night vision camera featuring a Sony sensor, and a 5 MP macro camera. There is a dual-tone flash too. Around the front, you have got a 32 MP selfie camera with a Sony sensor.

Other notables include Wi-Fi 6, dual SIM support (nano + nano, or nano + eSIM), dual GPS bands (L1+L5), NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and facial unlock.
