If you head out into great outdoor often, you will want a rugged smartphone. But since you are in the wild and not in a more controlled environment like, say, a construction site, that phone better not be pricey. This is where DOOGEE S58 Pro will serve the purpose.
Sure, it does not have top-end innards, but the price isn’t top end either. In fact, it is more affordable than you may have imagined. We are talking of about sub-$200 kind of affordable here.
Slapping a rugged case, or get a high-end rugged smartphone won’t stop it from being swallowed by the canyons. Hence, my rationale that you should indeed get an affordable smartphone that serves the purpose AND survive.
While affordable, the spec isn’t too shabby at all. It has a got a MediaTek Helio P22 chip, a generous 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB ROM which is further expandable up to 256 GB with a microSD card, a 5.71-inch HD+ display, a Sony tri-camera setup (16 MP + 2MP + 2MP), a 16 MP Samsung front camera, and a large 5,180 mAh battery that supports 12V/2A fast charging.
As far as ruggedness goes, it is IP68 rated to prevent water and dust infiltration, allowing it to be submerged up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) for up to hours. And then there is the “360-degree” anti-fall angle four-corner tire pattern protection that us made of rubber similar to those found on off-road vehicles’ tires.
The rubber outer is complemented by several rigid layers and finally a silicone lining rounds up the shock absorption capability. DOOGEE said the device is capable of sustaining drops up to 1.5 meters and survive extreme temperatures of 70 degrees Celsius down to minus 55 degrees Celsius (158 Fahrenheit to minus 67 Fahrenheit).
All these for a super affordable US$199.99. You can find the new DOOGEE S58 Pro Rugged Android Smartphone at Gearbest and AliExpress. It is also available in the U.K. from Amazon UK for £189.99 and on Amazon Spain, Germany, France and Italy, for €199.99.
