If you prefer a cleaner and more understated look, but without going full retro like the ZENITH CHRONOMASTER Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition, then Parmigiani Fleurier may have a wrist-worthy candidate for you. Folks, meet the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Chronograph Mystérieux, a luxury timepiece that made its world premiere at Watches & Wonders 2026 last month and somehow managed to make a chronograph disappear.

Yes. Disappear.
The Tonda PF Chronograph Mystérieux is indeed a chronograph watch, but unlike traditional chronographs that proudly display subdials, counters, scales, and enough markings to resemble cockpit instruments, this one keeps things hidden until needed. Parmigiani Fleurier basically asked a question most watchmakers probably never bothered asking: Can a chronograph exist without visually taking over the dial?
Turns out, yes.
Making this possible is the new PF053 caliber, a movement consisting of 362 components operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 60-hour power reserve. When the chronograph function is inactive, the Mineral Blue dial remains visually uninterrupted. No visible subdials. No permanent counters. Just a very clean, very elegant watch face with Grain d’Orge guilloché finishing.
Only when activated through a monopusher integrated into the case does the chronograph reveal itself. It is kind of like a stealth chronograph. Or perhaps the introvert of the chronograph world.

The watch itself comes housed in a 40 mm stainless steel case paired with a platinum knurled bezel. As expected from Parmigiani Fleurier, the finishing is ridiculously refined. The design remains restrained, but not boring. There is enough detail here to keep your eyes wandering around the dial for longer than you probably intended.
Parmigiani Fleurier calls this a philosophy where “complications need not impose themselves to exist.” Which is a very elegant way of saying: “Yes, we made a chronograph for people who do not want their chronograph constantly yelling at them.”
The Tonda PF Chronograph Mystérieux is priced at US$44,600. For those who prefer even more precious metal in their lives, Parmigiani Fleurier also unveiled a platinum version as part of the Tonda PF Platinum World Firsts Trilogy, where the Chronograph Mystérieux jumps to US$120,200.
