UK Porsche specialist Paul Stephens and its Autoart program have unveiled the all-new, production-ready 993R. The Paul Stephens Autoart 993R was born from an Autoart customer brief who wanted to enhance an original 993 by 25 percent in every aspect. The result is a brand new old car that took five years to materialize.

Paul Stephens Autoart 993R is a 911 like you have never seen before. It marries a new narrow-bodied, air-cooled 993-series 911 to Original Equipment (OE) race-validated 933RS and modern Porsche GT-derived components, sprinkled with Paul Stephens’ proven parts.

It looks like the old ride we fondly remember – a tad narrower, of course, but with up-to-date performance, courtesy of a stronger and enlarged 3.8L (from the original 3.6L) flat-six engine, featuring a 997 GT3 crankshaft, RSR pistons, camshafts machined to Paul Stephens’ own design and featuring Porsche Motorsport solid lifters.

All told, this Frankenstein motor produces 330 bhp @ 7,400 RPM and turns out 360 Nm (265.5 lb-ft) of torque @ 5,675 RPM, while weight have been reduced to just 1,220 kilogram (2,690 lbs) wet (from 1,370 kg/3,020 lbs). For the power-hungry, a 360 bhp version is also available.

The power is put to good use at the rear wheels through a 993 G51.21 six-speed gearbox with a lightweight flywheel and clutch, and a Wavetrac LSD. There are a ton more upgrades, including a seam-welded body, integral roll cage, and five-way adjustable, active suspension.
