Barbie. Arguably the most famous and influential girl to exist before Kim Kardashian and K-Pop. 60 years on since her creation, Barbie has matured into a more inclusive and diverse character.

After having assumed a variety of roles, including that of USS Enterprise Starfleet crew, government agents and 80s pop star, she has embarked on an adventure as a photojournalist for National Geographic.

So, yeah. Photojournalist is Barbie’s latest career. A collaboration between Mattel and National Geographic, this Barbie is geared up in brown pants, tan boots, a photojournalist requisite vest.

Photojournalist Barbie is accompanied by a lion Cub (honestly, I thought it was a cat), a camera and a copy of National Geographic publication.

No prize for guessing which field this Barbie is specialized in. I am putting money on wildlife photography. Can’t be war journalist, eh? Or else we will be getting a diorama of a war-torn city or something.

Perfect gift little girls between the age of 3-7 to show them that life of a lady ain’t about vanity (particularly important in the age of social media) and that their career choice is an open ended option.

Inspirational, I guess? But photojournalist or not, this Barbie still has the perfect body which, TBH, is not realistic. I mean, what are the odds that a photojournalist has perfect body? Just saying…
