In this installment of milking the mold, Hasbro has revealed the Transformers Studio Series Energon Universe Optimus Prime transforming action figure. You are not seeing things. It looks like the much-lauded Transformers Studio Series Commander Class The Transformers: The Movie 86-31 Optimus Prime has been given a retool to become the Optimus Prime grafted with Megatron’s right arm—complete with the iconic fusion cannon.

Folks, the Transformers Studio Series Energon Universe Optimus Prime is a nod to the Skybound comic reboot, specifically Transformers #4 (2023). In that issue, Prime took a beating from Skywarp and the Decepticons but still rolled out swinging with Megatron’s fusion cannon arm after his own right arm was badly damaged.
The figure, which stands 7.25 inches (18 cm) tall, is a Leader Class Optimus Prime with Meg’s arm, and converts into the iconic cab-over semi-truck. It even retains the awkward color scheme in truck mode—complete with the huge-ass fusion cannon poking out from the back of the cab. Also included are the Autobot leader’s blaster and, of course, the Matrix of Leadership.
All this for an asking price of a grand US$79.99. The Transformers Studio Series Energon Universe Optimus Prime is set to drop on October 1, 2026—nearly a year from now. Eager fans can secure their copy by pre-ordering from Hasbropulse.com. And no, it hasn’t sold out like Soundwave did. And we all know why.
