To commemorate the release of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Porsche Design has developed a 911 GT3 RS chronograph for the wrists of the owners of the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
The Porsche Design 911 GT3 RS Chronograph is developed by Porsche’s own watchmaking operation in Solothurn, Switzerland, and it is based on a glass-bead blasted case in a choice of natural or black titanium, with a screw-down crown.
Under the hood, running the clockwork is the mechanical Porsche Design chronograph calibre WERK 01.200, which has been COSC-certified for its high accuracy.
The timepiece features a flyback function, letting you start, stop, and reset the second hand with a single action. Meanwhile, the chronograph pushers, which have ‘Start/Stop’ and ‘Next Lap’ laser engravings, serve as a reminder that this isn’t merely a timepiece.
Other highlights include lightweight titanium that is dynamically waterproofed to up to 5 bar, a carbon-weave finish dial, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with sevenfold anti-glare properties on both sides, date window (at 4 o’clock), exclusive seconds dial (at 9 o’clock) in Black Mat with White ‘911 GT3 RS’ model lettering, leather strap with elaborate perforation and backing made from Race-Tex, luminous hour indices made of ceramic Superluminova material, redesigned vehicle rotor in rim design with the rotor cap in the shape of the center lock – complete with the ‘RS’ logo, and pulsometer scale on the bezel. The latter lets you measure your heartbeats per minute:
“After 30 heartbeats, the second hand you stopped indicates the number of heartbeats per minute on the pulsometer scale.”
However, if you prefer not to have the pulsometer function, it can be ordered with a bezel with a tachymeter or a minute display.
The Porsche Design 911 GT3 RS Chronograph is available exclusively to buyers of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and 911 GT3 RS with Weissach package, and in select markets, including Germany, the U.K., the U.S., France, Switzerland, and Austria. The watch has a base price of US$10,950.
