Door lock has come a long way. Through the years, mankind has used all sort of locking to secure their pad, ranging from key lock to numeric pad to biometric scan, and now what? Even voice? Apparently, so, starting with Schlage Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt with Amazon Alexa integration. How exactly it works is not clear. All we know is with Alexa integration, Schlage Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt will allow Alexa-enabled devices, such as Amazon Echo, to lock, as well as check the status of a user’s door via a Wink or Samsung SmartThings hub from the comfort of a living room, bedroom, or kitchen. Ok, maybe, it is not actually a voice-based lock, but it is a start.
I am guessing the voice recognition part is on the tricky side as your Echo may not be able distinguish who’s who. But being able to get it to lock from the inside with voice is good enough for now, well, that’s if you are into barking commands at a device like the Echo. In addition to Alexa, all Schlage Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt also boasts a few nifty features, including one-touch locking functionality, fingerprint-resistant touchscreen, compatibility with Z-wave, a slim exterior that will not interfere with storm doors, anti-pick shield, ability to hold up to 30 unique codes that can be tailored according to days and times of the week, and customizable security with three unique alarm modes engineered to sense vibrations at the door and sending alerts to user with audible alarm.
If you are up for it, you pick up a set off Amazon for $179.99 and up.
