Sennheiser Showcases 13-speaker Sound Bar at CES

It is clear by now that the market for sound bar is a force businesses can’t ignore. With the shrinking house size and the appreciation for minimal clutter by consumers, sound bar is the one audio equipment that has been exerting quite a significant draw in recent years. And you know it is indeed a force businesses can’t ignore when Sennheiser, a company that, up till today, has yet to make any consumer speaker, began experimenting in making one. That’s right. The Germany audio electronic maker is going to have a sound bar, the company’s first and it has taken its new toy to CES to wow the crowd. And wow it certainly is, albeit the prototype it brought along is not quite finish.

But, really, what is the ‘wow’ factor, you ask? Well, if packing a bar that is supposed to place in front of your flat screen TV with a whopping 13 drivers does nothing to wow the crowd, we don’t know what ever will. Imagine that. 13-freaking-speakers. Now, that’s way, way more than today’s sound bars have to offer, isn’t it? Of the 13 drivers, six of them are 4-inch woofers, five are tweeters (including two side-facing), and two are top-firing speakers (but slightly forward biased). As you can see from the image we grabbed from The Verge, the bar is basically filled with drivers with virtually no blank space left except for the rear panel.

Anywho, according to a ground report by The Verge, Sennheiser will likely market this monstrosity under its Ambeo brand since this ‘bar’ here is in fact a 360-degree audio equipment. But it won’t be so soon though. This yet to be named sound bar with shit load speakers is targeted to be available in late 2018. That being said, the pricing is, of course, not known at this point. However, rest assure that this monstrosity of sound bar is going to be very expensive. In the mean time, you can read about Jacob Kastrenakes’ first impression after emerging from a brief ’ brief audition.
