Straight from Episode 17 of Ultraman Taro is a collectible figure of the bird-like kaiju Birdon, aka Volcano Bird Monster. And boy, the treatment is really flattering. The paint job finally do justice to this gigantic menace. Because, the colors on 70s TV shows were really subpar and did not really bring out the vibrant of this horrific giant chicken.
The figure from Shonen-Ric makes the rubber suited monster from the TV show look like child’s play. The Shonen-Ric Birdon Ver. 2 Figure, as its product name implies, is not the first. This new figure, however, is part of the large monster series.
Standing at 27 cm (10.6 inches) tall, this PVC figure of the villain kaiju which has appeared in several episodes, touts incredible details, including the hair. We absolutely love the colors and dig the attention to details, but I thought it could use a little more size.
The Shonen-Ric Birdon Ver. 2 Vinyl Figure is a Japan Exclusive item and it is now open for pre-order in Shonen-Ric Japan’s website for 17,930 yen (works out be around UIS$171). Pre-order will close on February 24, at 1700 hours Japan time. The figure is expected to be released in June 2021.
