Skeletor: Until Next Time Mobile Game
Mattel has transformed Skeletor's famous "Until Next Time" meme into a free-to-play endless runner for Android and iOS, while doubling down on Masters of the Universe games with more titles on the way.

Thanks to Skeletor’s “Until Next Time” meme, this decades-old villain from Eternia has maintained an undiminished presence in pop culture. Now, Mattel is leveraging the meme’s viral popularity and turning it into a game. But you better lower your expectations. The game, aptly called Skeletor: Until Next Time, is not designed from the ground up. It is built on the concept of the endless-runner mobile game, popularized by Temple Run.

The game is Mattel Game Studios’ first self-published title, developed in partnership with Amber Studio. Here’s what the game is about and what you can expect straight from the horse’s mouth:

Key Features:

  • Swipe to Survive: Master smooth swipe controls as you dash forward, leap over traps, and outrun devious obstacles. Every run pushes players’ timing, focus, and reflexes to the limit.
  • Turbo-Powered Action: Activate powerful abilities, summon Panthor, and unleash villain energy as you push deeper into the chase and the pace accelerates.
  • Heroes, Magic, and Sorcery: Unlock iconic heroes and villains from the world of Masters of the Universe, each with unique abilities and powers that bring new energy to every run.
  • Retro Style, Modern Speed: Inspired by the classic Masters of the Universe era, the game blends bold retro visuals with fast-paced modern runner gameplay.

The game launched earlier this month ahead of the theatrical release of Masters of the Universe on June 05. Skeletor: Until Next Time is a free-to-play game available on Android and iOS.

It is not the only MOTU video game, btw. That’s right. Mattel is banking on this franchise big time.

Also launched on June 05 was Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite on Amazon’s cloud gaming platform, Luna. Later this year, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will launch on PC and consoles.
