So many brave men and women have sacrificed their lives fighting fires to save lives and properties. But thanks to high-tech hardware like autonomous firefighting VTOL, robotic firefighters, and more, firefighters and first responders the risks can be minimized. Meanwhile, in the sea, ST Engineering has proposed the use of a 7m Unmanned Surface Vessel for search and firefighting operations on open waters.
The unnamed vessel, which as the name suggests is 7 meters (23 feet) long, is developed to function in conjunction with fightfighting vessels such as the 2nd Generation Heavy Firefighting Vessel which is a mothership that carries and operates unmanned assets for search and rescue, and firefighting operations.
The 7m Unmanned Surface Vessel has a catamaran hull design for superior sea-keeping and high-speed maneuverability. It is designed to support main firefighting vessels and boasts some high-tech features like integrated advanced sensemaking features, “encompassing predictive diagnostics, condition-based maintenance, and decision support systems.”
While the vessel is now designed to serve as a seaborne firefighting vessel, it is adaptable to any mothership. The 7m Unmanned Surface Vessel is a ready product that interested organizations/countries can procure.
The 7m Unmanned Surface Vessel was showcased at the recently concluded Singapore Airshow 2024.
