If you prefer rolling up your sleeves and work your hands to convert a classic MINI into an EV over buying one outright, then you may want to look at Swindon Powertrain’s Electric Classic MINI Kit.
The UK engine specialist is now offering standalone kit that offers 80 kW continuous power (or 120 kW peak) to classic car enthusiasts who wish to electrify a classic MINI.
The Swindon Powertrain Electric Classic MINI Kit can be used as a standalone unit or with a range of aftermarket Swindon Powertrain EV components such as the 12 kWH battery pack, motor controller, onboard charger and DC-DC converter, speed sensor kit and cooling system pump.
The best part about the Swindon Powertrain’s kit is, it promised that no vehicle modifications are required. Plus, it is around half of the weight of a typical A Series 998 Engine, at just over 70 kilograms dry (154 lbs).
The Classic Mini Kit package comes with an HPD E Powertrain system mounted on an original classic MINI front subframe with brackets specifically designed for this installation.
Also include are purpose designed inner CV joint housings for fitment of standard MINI driveshaft assemblies and a standard differential. Limited Slip Differential (LSD) is available as an option.
The Swindon Powertrain Electric Classic MINI Kit is available to order now, with a starting price of £8,850 (roughly US$11,692) plus tax.
